It is a large working dog that originated in the Alps of Switzerland and Italy. Known for its loyalty, strength, and gentle personality, it was initially cultivated for rescue work, especially in the harsh weather conditions of the Alps, to search for and rescue lost or injured travelers. Large in size, with dense double layered fur, the outer layer is rough while the inner layer is soft, capable of withstanding extreme cold and humidity. The coat color is usually white with brown or red patches. Very friendly, patient, and gentle towards family members and children. It is protective, but usually does not exhibit aggression. Enjoying outdoor activities requires sufficient physical activity and mental stimulation.
